Last week, the Green Bay Packers did something they have not
done in a long time. Staring defeat in the face with two minutes to go and no
timeouts, the Packers offense went down the field after a rough game and won
the game in the final moments when tight end Andrew Quarless caught the game
winner from Aaron Rodgers with three seconds left. The Packers now come back
home for just their third home game of the season so far to take on the
Carolina Panthers. Here are some our thoughts heading into the game.
Will Eddie Lacy ever put together a solid string of
performances? So far this season, Eddie Lacy has just one 100 yard rushing
performance and that was in week five against Minnesota. The Packers offense needs Eddie
Lacy to get it going soon, or perhaps it may be time to give more playing time
to James Starks and/or Dejaun Harris.
Why is Leroy Guion still starting at nose guard? The Packers defense suffered a serious loss in the preseason when the talented B.J. Raji
was lost for the season due to injury. Since then, Leroy Guion has been
starting at nose guard, and this makes no sense to us. The Packers always
preach about development. Well they have young players in Josh Boyd and Mike
Pennel who they are developing. One of those two should be starting instead of
Guion. This makes no sense as is right now.
Can Davonte Adams continue to rise? All season we have been
calling for another pass catcher besides Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson to step
up and start making plays. Well, Devonte Adams appears to be the one rising to
the occasion. Adams had a good game last week
against the Dolphins and needs to build on that.
Which Packers team will we get? The Green Bay Packers have
turned into the New York Giants from a few years ago, meaning that you never
know what you are going to get from this bunch. They stuffed Mathew Stafford,
broke Jay Cutler in the second half, beat up Ponder all night, and humiliated
Ryan Tannehill for the first half. Then they turned around and let Tannehill go
crazy with touchdown after touchdown in the second half last week. Can this
team show a little bit of consistency on a week to week basis please? At the end of the day, we believe this will be a close
battle. Final score: Packers 34 - Panthers 27.
