Detroit Lions Mock Draft 2014 | Will The Packers Face A Tougher Lions Team Next Season?

Detroit Lions Mock Draft
Over the coming months, were are going to feature Mr. Tim Bryce’s NFL mock drafts on this blog.  We’ll be sure to keep you on top of all the latest in Wisconsin concerts, sports and theater, but Green Bay is a football town, and we have some of the smartest football fans in the country.  Why not see what Mr. Bryce has on his “DraftDar.” That’s draft radar for the layperson. This week is version one for one of the Packers NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions. The Lions only have six draft choices, and they must make the most of what they have. So without any more babbling on, here it is.

Round One: Taylor Lewan/OT/Michigan- The Lions did a better job in 2013 of keeping franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford on his feet. They can do better though. Lewan would fit nicely. Another option if he is available here would be cornerback Darqueze Dennard from Michigan State.

Round Two: Marcus Roberson/CB/Florida- At some point in the high rounds of this draft Detroit does need to address it’s secondary. Roberson would be a nice fit and would go a long way to help them. If Roberson is off the board, they could opt for Bradley Roby from Ohio State to fill their cornerback need.

Round Three: Deon Bucannon/S/Washington State- It is no secret the Lions biggest need this offseason is defensive back. They need to upgrade at both safety and corner, and in the worst way. Bucannon could step in and start immediately. If they miss out on a corner in round two and if Bucannon is off the board already, Louchiez Purifoy from Florida would be a good fit.

Round Four: Josh Huff/WR/Oregon- Detroit’s offense is good. However they need to diversify especially at the wide receiver position. Josh Huff could help them do that. If Huff is off the board, they could look at Mike Davis, the wide receiver from Texas.

Round Six: Rob Blanchflower/TE/Massachusetts- Now we are into the rounds were teams look to fill depth charts. Blachflower would give the Lions some needed tight end depth.

Round Seven: Hakeem Smith/S/Louisville- The Lions secondary is bad, like really bad. They need to replace as much of it as they can. Smith is a smart instinctive player who would fit well and would provide some depth.
