Well, the NFL Combine is over, which means it is time to go mock draft
nuts. Let’s begin with the Packers main rival, the Minnesota Vikings
Round One: Vic Beasley/OLB/Clemson- The Minnesota Vikings drafted
Anthony Barr a year ago, and he did a great job. Still, they need more at the
linebacker position. Beasley is a super athlete who could be a great outside
linebacker in a 4-3 scheme in this league.
Round Two: Ty Sambrailo/OT/Colorado State- The Minnesota Vikings offensive
line as is, was designed to do one thing, block for Adrian Peterson. Last
season, they all of a sudden had to become a pass blocking team, and it showed
just how not designed for pass blocking they were. Peterson is on his way out,
so that means this line needs to be remade to block for Teddy “Two Gloves”
Bridgewater. Sambrailo is an ideal pass blocker and could become the long term
answer to protecting Bridgewater’s backside.
Round Three: David Johnson/RB/Northern Iowa- With Peterson on his way
out the door, the Vikings will need a running back to pair with Jerrick
McKinnon. From what we understand, the Vikings are very interested in David
Johnson and he would fit well. Also look for David Cobb to be a candidate in
this spot.
Round Four: Ramik Wilson/ILB/Georgia- We understand this is the second linebacker
already for the Vikings in this mock draft. However, you all need to think
about this. The Vikings are going to continue to lose divisional games unless
they can tackle Eddie Lacy, James Starts, Matt Forte, and Joique Bell.
Round Five: Vince Mayle/WR/Washington State- With Teddy Bridgewater in
place, the Vikings need to add young weapons for him to throw to. Mayle could
be the start of that and has nice size.
Round Six: Adam Shead/OG/Oklahoma- Late in the draft somewhere, most
teams usually find an offensive line project who can add some depth and play
multiple positions. Shead is a massive human being who could be just that.
Round Seven: Tyler Heinicke/QB/Old Dominion- It may not be a bad idea
for the Vikings to find a project to develop as a future backup. Heinicke could
be that project.
